A serious accident took place in Kolkata’s Baguihati area when a speeding DN 16/1 route bus hit a bike near Narayantala. The incident occurred as the bike, carrying two passengers, was heading from the airport towards Ultadanga.
The bus hit the bike from behind, severely injuring the biker and the woman passenger seated on the back. Both were rushed to a nearby private hospital, where the condition of the bike driver was reported to be critical.
Eyewitnesses reported that the accident was caused by the high speed of the bus. Angered by the incident, residents vandalized the bus, causing significant damage to its windows and body. The Baguihati police station quickly responded to the situation, restoring order and taking control of the area.
The injured individuals were promptly transported to the hospital for treatment. Local sources claim that speeding and reckless driving are frequent issues in this area, raising concerns about the lack of enforcement of traffic regulations.
